There is STILL no playbook for this type of situation. In light of the current situation with Covid- 19, Frosty’s has decided to close Wednesday, July 8 until further notice.  A few members of our management team and members of our restaurant family have been identified as primary contacts of folks who have tested positive from the island.  In order to ensure the safety of our restaurant family and island guests, we decided the best course of action was to close until we are sure our family is healthy.

The Ottawa County Health Department, in conjunction with the Ohio National Guard, Magruder hospital, and various medical teams have coordinated Covid testing for island employees which will take place on the island on Friday and Saturday.  Results should return within 24-72 hours at which time we will make an announcement about reopening.  All returning members of our restaurant family will be required to present a Covid negative test before returning to work.

If you have questions or concerns about your personal health regarding Covid-19, please contact your family physician, local heath department or visit

We were thinking of finding a date in August to come to the island. Been doing this annually for more than 30 years. Normally, our first stop is Frosty’s. Considering the covid-19 induced closing, we are hoping by now, 7/31/20, the place is open once again.

Any intentions of availability to help us?

We were closed for 5 days in early July, but open 7 days a week now.
